25 Word Summery

This task was based around the peom waltzing matilda. A 25 Summary is a text that explains the story in 25 words. The peom was  about a man called the swagman who had stolen a sheep. but was caught and troops came coming down. In a atepmt to escape he jumps in a river drowning himself. This peom was also a famous song in Austraila.

I enjoyed this task because how we learned about what happened in austraila and you atucally find the lake where the swagman was. theres a legend where the swagman is still singing to this day.

Shearers’s Strikes

For reading this was our task. The task of making an DLO revoling around 1891 with shears from all over austrila would protest and fight for there rights. They did this because of there pay has gotten less and the bad working envioiments they have been working in.

This DLO contained using 2 perspectives. perspective A which was the shears side were we wrote how it was wrong for how the farmers treated the shears. The other perspective is perspective B which is the farmers side were they did not care about what the shears thought and called the police aganist the protesters. Our opion we had agreed with perspective A claiming that it was wrong for the way they have been treated.

Even though the had protested and protested they still didnt with the strike. Some of the employes were in really trouble. but even though they had lost the strike it was still an important event for Fairness and rights in Australia.

Ancient Time Project

The Clepsydra

clepsydra is an ancient water clock.

It measures time by letting water flow slowly out of a vessel through a small hole. These water clocks were used in places like ancient Egypt and China which was as early as the 15th century BC. this helped people keep time and manage things like it from flooding.

The Sundail

A sundial is a old timekeeping device that can tell you what time it is depending on where the Sun casts its shadow on the sundial

A sundial is made up of two parts: a flat circular plate and a stick kind of like a rod. The stick casts a shadow on the plate and this shadow shows the time.

The Sandclock

An hourglass is a old time keeping device used to measure the passage of time. It has two glass bulbs connected together going down vertically by a narrow space in between the two bulbs.

What it does is that it allows a regulated flow of a substance from the upper bulb to the lower one.

LI: Understanding How Hard It Was To Earn Incomes From Shearing Sheep

This week for Reading , we made a DLO about the 1891 Shearers Strike

But If you don’t know what is the backstory behind it , let me explain :

The 1891 Shearers Strike: Standing Up for Workers’ Rights

What was the 1891 Shearers Strike?**

The 1891 Shearers Strike was a significant event in Australia’s history when sheep shearers across New South Wales decided to take a stand for their rights. They wanted better pay and working conditions, and when their demands weren’t met, they chose to go on strike. This meant they stopped working in the shearing sheds, refusing to shear any more sheep until their requests were taken seriously.

**Why did it happen?**

The strike occurred because many shearers felt they weren’t being treated fairly. They worked long hours and were paid little for the hard work they did. The shearers believed they deserved a fair wage and better conditions to work in. It was also a time when workers were beginning to organize and fight for their rights more than ever before.

**When did it take place?**

The strike began in April 1891 and went on for several months, showcasing the shearers’ determination to stand up for what they believed was right. It was a tough time, and many families faced hardships during this period, but the shearers stayed united in their cause.

**Who was involved?**

The main players in the Shearers Strike were the sheep shearers themselves, who came together to demand better treatment. Additionally, there were those who owned the shearing sheds, called squatters, who were less willing to give in to the shearers’ demands. This led to clashes and tensions between the two groups. The strike also drew attention from the broader community and helped inspire future workers’ movements across the country.

### Conclusion

The 1891 Shearers Strike was a key moment in the journey toward workers’ rights in Australia. It showed how important it is for workers to be heard and to come together for fair treatment. Even today, the lessons learned from this strike can still inspire us to stand up for what is fair and just. Let’s remember the courage of those shearers and continue to support each other in our own journeys.

That is The Story behind it . And It is very bad that the Shearers didn’t get enough money for completing their jobs , even though they did it fast , they still got the same amount of money , everyday .

Procedural writing

For this challenge we had pair up with buddy and make a dinosaur out of paper and it was really fun to do next after we finsh we’d had to make a list of things to make our paper dino as we made them and we’d have to repeat this process to make our final product. Next we give it to our teacher and she’d hang it up on the wall.

Dinosaur eggs Ai

who uncovered a rare dinosaur egg fossil. We used Adobe Express to reimagine what a real find might look like. After a quick research challenge about habitat we used that information to create our image. My partner and I found the skeleton of a Pterodactyl. One interesting fact I found about the Pterodactyl is that its wings are not actually covered with feathers its actually covered with its skin. This task was fun because we could collaborate with each other but not only learning about dinosaurs, Fossils but it can show us how important it was back then and it shows that we can change everyone’s perspectives through Fossils.

Malala Yousafzai

Today in ls2  miss Anderson’s reading group made some dlo’s about our topic Malala youiazfai. We made it about her famous saying that was “one pen one book one child one teacher can change the world”

Dinosuar DLO

Our challenge was to create a DLO that tells others about the dinosaur we found when we excavated our dinosaur eggs.

My partner and I found the skeleton of a Pterodactyl. did you know that the pterodactly used the big head crest on the back of its head like a rudder and when they dived under water is was used to go back and forth make it like a small jet boat.

Something I found interesting was Pterodactyls had wings made of skin, not feathers.
